The Canadian forests are renowned the world over for the variety of species they contain and the quality
of the wood they produce. The extraordinary wealth that the forests represent is evident in the thousands of products made of wood. Cobodex, are doing everything to ensure that coming generations will benefit from these tremendous yet fragile resources. Their approach to forest development is based on the principle of multiple uses. This takes into account the whole range of plant and animal resources as well as recreational activities and tourism. At Cobodex, forest development means sustained yield through natural regeneration within the Forestry Development and Supply Contract, of the Quebec Department of Natural Resources. The process begins with identifying the trees to be harvested. Adult trees are selected and marked for cutting; the others will be left for 25 years, or untill they have reached maturity.

A DOMESTICATED HIGH-TECHNOLOGY
The technology is strictly state-of-the-art. As the logs are brought in they are measured, debarked, cut and trimmed to extract a maximum of premium quality wood. After a rigorous controlled drying, the wood is classified and measured one last time before shipment. Their goal is to protect the environment throughout the production process. All the biomass that comes into the plants is reused in one way or another. Sawdust is used as fuel to fire the kiln dryers and all the elements of the trees that are not used in the mill are made into chips and sent as raw material to paper mills making use of everything.
